National educational practices improve year after year, but have we been measuring these improvements in the most telling way? In his talk, Patrick Bloniasz discusses his recent case study on the Every Student Succeeds Act and the impact it has on state standardized tests. He reflects on how we might move forward into the future in order meet the needs of all students. Patrick F. Bloniasz is a member of the Class of 2022 at Bowdoin College and grew up in Brookline, New Hampshire. He is a prospective double major in Neuroscience and Philosophy with a minor in Mathematics. Patrick enjoys running, hiking, writing, and performing music. He is involved in Bowdoin’s Chamber Choir, several projects at the McKeen Center for the Common Good, and intramural sports. Off campus, he is a board member of E&GJ Creative Arts Foundation, a certified personal trainer, and an independent researcher and consultant in educational reform. Patrick is also an active member of the American Psychological Association and The Psychometric Society.
